We
supply a complimentary "Easy Care" maintenance kit with every
new floor for the above mentioned finish types.
Use our recommended Glitsa floor cleaner fluid, follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Preventative maintenance:
- Preventative maintenance is most effective.
- Inspect the floor for excessive finish wear normally found at doorways and under basketball hoops. If necessary use the BC Hardwood floor inspection service for this (contact us).
- Recoat the floor before the finish is worn through (once every 4 - 8 years), so you don't have to resand it. This will protect the wear layer and extend the life of your sports floor.
- Keep outside shoes off the floor.
- Use protective mats in front of doorways to minimize dirt build up.
- Do not drag furniture or large objects back and forth on the floor. Lift and place all objects.
Cleaning:
- Sweep regularly to keep the surface free from dust, grit, sand and abrasive particles.
- Wipe up spills locally with a damp rag (not dripping wet ).
- Keep the floor dry to avoid water damage.
- Never wash with a wet mop.
After a recoat:
A minimum of twenty four hours is recommended before returning to the floor area. Providing good ventilation will minimize the odor and help the floor finish cure faster. You can generally walk on the floor after 24 - 36 hours, however you should treat your floor with extra care during the first two weeks and schedule activities accordingly.
DO NOT:
Do not use soaps, strong detergents, waxes, scrubbing machines, oil treated mops or sweeping compounds as they will eventually damage the finish and the wood.
